Dear Sir or Madam,
I write to express my opposition in the strongest possible terms to
this completely unnecessary and unacceptable additional burden on
the already hard pressed taxpayers and citizens of Wales.
At a time when the constant refrain from the ruling parties of the
Senedd is of savage cuts inflicted by Westminster there is
absolutely no moral justification for such a vast increase in
costs.
Wales already has far fewer citizens per Senedd constituency than
the UK has at Westminster. These reforms will reduce
that number still further to barely half. There is no
empirical evidence to suggest that this ‘reform’ will
do anything to increase political engagement. Indeed,
the inevitable increase in costs and the likely consequential cuts
in frontline services which this will bring about is likely to
further disillusion the people of Wales.
Yours faithfully
David Llewellyn Williams
